Assam: Forest fire sweeps through Guwahati's Amingaon, firefighters struggle to contain flames

A massive forest fire erupted in the Joyguru hills of Amingaon in Guwahati on March 18, engulfing the Bathou temple area and reducing two houses to ashes. The inferno also destroyed an old plastic dump, further intensifying the destruction.

Firefighters and police teams rushed to the site, working relentlessly to control the blaze at the foothills. However, the flames continue to rage uncontrolled in the hilltop areas, posing a significant threat to the surroundings.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was deliberately set in the dry forested region. The incident has caused widespread panic among residents, and officials are actively monitoring the situation. Authorities have yet to release an official assessment of the damage caused by the fire.
