Assam: Gang Ngai festival unites northeast communities in celebration of cultural heritage

The much-anticipated Gang Ngai traditional indigenous cultural festival commenced today, showcasing the vibrant crafts, literature, and cultural traditions of the Naga community. The event aims to foster unity among the diverse communities of Northeast India under one platform.  

Representatives from various communities, including Naga, Kuki, Manipuri, and Khasi groups, participated in the festival, using the opportunity to highlight their distinct cultural heritage. Traditional attire, crafts, and performances were the main attractions, emphasizing mutual respect and cultural exchange.  

Festival organizers stressed the importance of cultural understanding as a cornerstone for building a harmonious and crime-free society. They announced plans to expand such programs to tribal villages and remote areas, ensuring inclusivity and broader community participation.
