Garo Cultural Forum and Garo students' Union (GSU) jointly organised the two day long post harvest, 100 Drums Wangala Festival that concluded on Saturday at Chotipara village playground in Goalpara district.
Ten Garo traditional Wangala Dance troupes took part in the two days long festival. One Wangala troupe came from Dadangre village, Meghalaya and other nine troupes were from both Assam's Kamrup and Goalpara District.
The Wangala festival was organized by the Garo Cultural Forum in association with the Garo Students' Union, Assam State Zone from November 24 -25 at Chotipara (Jajong Kadoram).
The event also included trekking expedition to Jajong Kadoram, indigenous games and sports.
Pongseng R Marak, MLA and Chairperson, Public Grievance & Redressal Committee, Govt. Of Meghalaya, Ramakant Rabha, Deputy Chief Executive Member of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, Frylin R Marak, Executive Member of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council and many other dignitaries took part as guest in the two days long Garo Traditional Music and Dance Festival 'Wangala'.
Rakkam A Sangma, Education Minister, Meghalaya took part as Chief Guest.
