Assam: Hailstorm wreaks havoc in Tinsukia district; several houses damaged, trees uprooted

Amid Rongali Bihu festivities, the weather has been playing a spoilsport with isolated rainfall in various parts of the state. Destructive hailstorm on the night of April 22 caused widespread damages to property, power outage and trees being uprooted.

The storm even led to the collapse of several houses, leaving families displaced and need of immediate assistance.
Sources claim that the hailstorm was so severe that it also broke the connection to the electricity, rendering the region without power. The breakdown of power posts additionally confounded the circumstance and made it problematic for rescue teams to reach the affected areas.

Numerous business owners were left in a state of shock and despair after the storm's destructive force also destroyed the nearby residence hotel and dhabas. 

Alert locals along with the rescue teams effectively participated in giving help to the affected individuals, also helping them out with immediate asylum, food, and other necessities.
