Assam: High school student’s dead body found in Haflong

Haflong Police on April 23 recovered the body of a student in Haflong, in Dima Hasao district. The body which was lying near the Haflong town was discovered by a passerby who informed the local police following which they reached the site and recovered the body. 

The deceased person has been identified as Slyring Hojai, a resident of Haflong Gadain Raji.

Slyring's elder brother informed that his brother was a second-year high school student.

Police suspect that the student was beaten to death as his body was found with a broken right leg and several injuries on the body. 

According to the elder brother of the deceased youth, an unknown individual had called Hojai at 9.30 pm on Monday night, following which he had left his home to never return home. The mobile phone was found switched off further after that. 

Slyring Hojai’s brother further informed that his mobile phone got switched off around 10 pm at night. 

Even though security has been beefed up by police officials across the district for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the incidents of such killings in Haflong town have created a sensation across the city.
