Assam: If somebody gives donations, I will definitely accept it as our bank accounts are frozen, says APCC President

Bhupen Borah, the President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), has openly called for donations, citing the dire financial condition of the party. Speaking at a public event in Pathshala, Borah acknowledged the challenging situation faced by the APCC, stating the urgent need for financial support.

"We will take donations because our financial condition is bad," said Borah, addressing the reporters. "If somebody gives donations to Bhupen Borah as APCC President, I will definitely accept it."

Highlighting the extent of the financial crisis, Borah disclosed that 11 bank accounts belonging to the party had been frozen, with approximately 1100 crore rupees held in limbo. He attributed this dire situation to alleged corruption within the Assam government, accusing the Chief Minister of embezzling funds under the guise of a coal syndicate.

Addressing the plight of the BJP's opponents, Borah questioned whether the party would acknowledge the grievances of individuals like Ashok Sharma in Nalbari, suggesting a lack of empathy from the incumbent government.
