With Panchayat elections around the corner, campaign activities are gaining momentum across Assam. In the 83rd Margherita constituency of Tinsukia district, independent candidates are also stepping up their efforts to connect with voters.
On Monday, Romen Phukan, an educated unemployed youth contesting as an independent candidate for the position of regional Panchayat member under Bhitor Pawoi Gaon Panchayat, held a high-energy bike rally to bolster his campaign.
The rally, which drew several hundred supporters, began from Phukan’s residence and traversed key areas of the Panchayat, generating significant public interest. Supporters were seen waving flags and chanting slogans in support of his candidacy.

Addressing the public, Phukan urged voters to support him by voting for the “Lemon” symbol, under which he is contesting. He promised that, if elected, he would work relentlessly for the holistic development of Bhitor Pawoi Regional Panchayat and address the core issues affecting the local population.
The enthusiastic turnout for the rally reflects growing grassroots support for Phukan’s independent campaign in a field largely dominated by party-backed candidates.
