Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika on August 29 asserted that the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) tried to gain political power in the name of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA) protest.
Addressing the media, Pijush Hazarika said, "The AJP tried to sell the feelings of the people of Assam to gain political power, however, they have been thrashed by the people."
Hazarika refusing to comment on the statement of Zubeen Garg for the AJP as a whole stated that currently, the political future of Lurin Jyoti Gogoi looms in uncertainty as BJP is set to win at least 11 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
"Now that Today India C-voter's survey has predicted at least 11 seats for BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha election but now we are trying to get the Karimganj seat also...so where is AJP's future, 2026 again BJP will come to power in the state and Himanta Biswa Sarma will become the CM" the minister added.
