Assam: Karimganj district enhances security measures along Bangladesh border

India is closely monitoring the evolving situation in Bangladesh, with heightened security measures implemented in the 100-km border area in Karimganj district. 

The Border Security Force (BSF), police, and Village Defense Parties (VDP) have all been put on high alert to ensure robust surveillance and control.

Karimganj District Commissioner Mrinal Yadav has announced that Indian nationals in Karimganj seeking to return from Bangladesh can contact a designated helpline for assistance. This measure is part of a broader effort to maintain safety and order during the ongoing developments.

In a related move, two immigration check posts on the Bangladesh-Karimganj border have been instructed to meticulously scrutinize travel documents. 

This step aims to prevent illegal crossings and ensure that all entries are properly documented, reflecting the district's commitment to maintaining border security and facilitating orderly migration.
