Assam man confesses of ‘murdering’ minor after failed rape attempt in Dhakuakhana

A man from Assam’s Dhakuakhana has confessed to his crime on camera of murdering a girl studying in Class IX. 

The accused identified as Hazrat Ali admitted that he entered the girl’s house with the intention to rape her but when the girl screamed, he strangled her to death and escaped from the house.

44-year-old Hazrat Ali is a resident of Bhakuamari village under Dhekiajuli police station in Sonitpur district. The victim also resided in the same village.

As per official reports, the incident occurred at around 5:30 am on November 15 when Ali went out to offer prayers at 4:30 am. 

During interrogation, Ali confessed that he killed the minor girl at her house. On Tuesday morning at around 5:30 am, he went to the house of the victim girl when she was sleeping. 

Taking advantage of the absence of the other family members, he entered the house and attempted to rape her. When she woke up and started screaming, Hazrat Ali strangled her to death and then fled from the victim’s house.

Meanwhile, the accused Hazrat Ali said that he went to the victim girl's house to rape her.

"When she woke up and started screaming, I strangled her to death. I admit my mistake," Ali said.

A case has been registered at Dhekiajuli police station. The investigation is underway.

It may be recalled that the body of the teenage girl studying in Class IX was found on her bed on November 15 in Bhakuamari village of Dhekiajuli. A team of CID and forensics from Guwahati reached the spot and the Dog Squad team launched an investigation.

The sniffer dog in the Dog Squad team showed the footprints on one side of Hazrat Ali's pond yesterday, indicating Hazrat Ali washed his hands and feet in the pond after committing the murder. Sniffer Dogs showed the pond and roamed around the residence of the killer and tried to signal that Hazrat Ali was the killer.
