Assam minister Atul Bora slams Congress for neglecting tea garden community, not focusing on development initiatives

Prior to the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, Atul Bora, the Assam Agriculture Minister and representative of the Bokakhat Assembly constituency, has emphasized the significant role of the tea garden community in the electoral landscape of Assam.

Bora asserts that historically, the tea garden community has been a loyal vote bank for the Congress party, yet he criticizes the party for neglecting the development needs of this demographic.

He highlights ongoing challenges faced by the tea garden populace while lauding the efforts of the current government, led by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, in addressing many of these issues.

Bora underscores the importance of the tea garden electorate in his own constituency, noting the substantial turnout of tea garden workers at a recent gathering where CM Sarma was present.

He also points out that the NDA's candidate for the Kaziranga parliamentary seat hails from the tea garden community, suggesting a broader resonance of NDA's agenda among this demographic.

Confident in the NDA's prospects, Bora predicts victories for NDA candidates in constituencies where tea garden voters wield significant influence. He expresses optimism about garnering support from the tea garden populace, citing the government's concerted efforts to tackle their challenges, including recent wage increases for workers.

Bora asserts a prevailing sentiment in favor of the NDA, attributing it to a desire for continued development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He concludes by expressing confidence in the electorate's alignment with the NDA's vision for progress and their preference for Modi to serve another term as Prime Minister.
