A 14-year-old girl, resident of No. 1 Molang village under Ledo Police Station in the Margherita subdivision of Assam, has been missing for the past 20 days.
The girl was reportedly taken to Maruwa village in Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh, by a woman named Purnima Munglung. The woman had convinced the family to let her take Arati, promising to provide education and care.
On November 1, the family was informed that Arati had gone missing from Namsai on October 30. The distressed family immediately traveled to Namsai to search for her but failed to locate her. They subsequently filed a missing persons report.
The woman who took Arati informed the family that she had also lodged a complaint at the Chowkham Police Station in Arunachal Pradesh. However, when asked to provide a certified copy of the report, the woman could not do so, raising the family's suspicions.
The family suspects that the girl may have been trafficked.
Meanwhile, the family has also filed a report at the Ledo Police Station.
