Assam moral policing: Woman brutally attacked, tortured in Dalgaon, hospitalized

A woman was brutally beaten and tortured in a horrific incident of moral policing in Gur village, Dalgaon on May 4. 

As per sources, the mob tied the woman's hands and feet to a tree, subjecting her to merciless beating. Reports allege that the attackers reached a new low of cruelty by pouring water mixed with chili powder on the woman's body. The incident was filmed and the video has since gone viral on social media platforms.

The woman's ordeal took place at night on May 4 when a group of men pulled out the woman from her home on suspicion of throwing stones on the neighbours' roof. According to the FIR lodged at Panbari police station, her husband is believed to be the mastermind behind the entire attack. 

Additionally, as per the villagers allegation, the victim's husband has already married several times. 

The FIR names 10 people, including the husband and the neighbor identified as Baharul Islam.

After being tied to the tree for a prolonged period, the woman was finally rescued by the villagers and rushed to the hospital for treatment. 

The incident has sparked outrage in the community, highlighting the dangers of moral policing and domestic violence. Police are investigating the matter further.
