A major oil theft racket has come to light following the recent fire incident caused by a pipeline leak in Babubil, located in Gossaigaon town.
According to sources, the group involved in the oil theft had recently set up a scrap trading outlet near the spot as a cover for their illegal activities.
It is alleged that the racket dug up the ground to expose the underground oil pipeline, punctured it, and began siphoning oil.

Gossaigaon Police have already arrested several individuals linked to the theft, and further investigation is ongoing.
