Assam: One dead, 3 injured as speeding truck crashes into e-rickshaw on NH-17

A tragic accident on National Highway 17 (NH-17) at Ratiadah, Golakganj, Assam claimed one life and left three others, including children, critically injured on Wednesday, March 5 evening. The incident occurred when a speeding truck traveling from Agamoni to Gauripur collided with an E-rickshaw, reportedly due to illegal barricades made of drums, allegedly placed by Jandu Construction India Pvt. Ltd.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the victims suffered severe injuries, with some sustaining serious damage to their limbs. The injured were immediately rushed to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital in a Mrityunjay ambulance and a police vehicle. Their identities are yet to be confirmed.

Residents allege that the accident was caused by the unauthorised barricades set up by Jandu Construction, the company responsible for constructing the 127(B) National Highway, which connects Srirampur to the Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge.

Enraged by the incident, locals dismantled and discarded the barricades in protest. Despite the public outcry, officials have yet to issue a statement regarding the incident. Authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the matter to determine accountability and prevent further accidents.
