In a remarkable initiative for global peace one lakh earthen lamps were lit at the Bathou Thanshali in Bagansali, Kokrajhar.
The event was organized as part of the preparations for the Gwthar Bathou San (sacred Bathou San), which will be celebrated Tuesday, January 28, marking the second Tuesday of the Assamese month of Magh.
The grand lighting ceremony was held on Monday evening at the Bathou Thanshali and other locations across Kokrajhar town.
The event witnessed participation from prominent leaders, including BTR Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro, Assam Cabinet Minister UG Brahma, BTC Legislative Assembly Speaker Katiram Boro, ABSU President Dipen Boro, and former MP Sansuma Khungur Bwiswmuthiary.

Bathou San is a sacred occasion for the followers of the Bathou faith in the Boro community.
The day also known as Gouthar Bathou San or Sacred Bathou Day, is celebrated traditionally on the second Tuesday of Magh with fervor and devotion by Bodo Community.
Adding to the significance of the celebrations, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will participate in the festivities on January 28, further highlighting the importance of the event in the cultural and spiritual life of the Boro community.
The lighting of one lakh lamps symbolizes a collective prayer for peace and harmony and sets the tone for the vibrant celebration of Gwthar Bathou San.
