The Press Information Bureau (PIB), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, organised a VARTALAP Media Workshop on Tuesday at NTPC Kokrajhar.
Themed ‘Viksit Bharat Ka Amrit Kal’, the workshop aimed to enhance awareness about the government's developmental roadmap and deepen media engagement.
The event was formally inaugurated by Member of Parliament Joyanta Basumatary, who underscored Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India. “Amrit Kal represents a crucial transitional phase in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation,” he said, lauding ongoing efforts under the Viksit Bharat initiative.
A highlight of the workshop was a panel discussion on "Empowerment of Amrit Peedhi and Youth Welfare." Panelists included Robert L. Guite, Regional Director, ESIC Guwahati; Ranjan Barua, Advisor, SEED Mission BTR; and Arindam Das, Chief of Bureau, North East Live. The discussion revolved around youth empowerment, government schemes, and the critical role of young citizens in nation-building.

PIB Guwahati Deputy Director Pavni Gupta spoke about the significance of such media workshops. “This platform enables direct interaction between government departments and the media, ensuring that accurate and comprehensive information reaches the public,” she said.
Prominent attendees included Wilson Hasda, Executive Member, BTC; Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon; K.M. Prashanth, GM (Corporate Communication), NTPC; Dr. P.L. Bharati, In-Charge, Research, CARI Guwahati; and Ankur Lahoty, Head of RNU, Doordarshan Guwahati. The workshop also drew participation from numerous local journalists and media professionals, making it an engaging platform for dialogue, clarity, and collaboration.
