Assam: Police bust cattle smuggling gang in Patharkandi, recover 21 stolen cows and goats

In a successful crackdown on cattle smuggling in Patharkandi, Assam, police dismantled a cattle smuggling syndicate, leading to the recovery of 21 stolen cows and goats. This operation exposed a substantial network involved in the illicit trade of livestock.

Acting on valuable intelligence, the Patharkandi police conducted raids in the Bandarkona and Cheragi localities, resulting in the apprehension of five individuals implicated in the theft and trafficking of cattle and goats. Following thorough interrogation, the authorities successfully rescued 21 cows and goats, which had been reported as stolen.

The arrested suspects, identified as Farooq Ahmad, Masuk Ahmad, Kabir Hussain, Abdul Haseeb, and Almaz Uddin, were found to be integral members of the organized crime ring operating in the Patharkandi region. It was revealed that this group had been orchestrating cattle smuggling activities in the area for an extended period, posing a significant threat to the local livestock industry and causing distress to affected farmers and livestock owners.
