Assam: Police recover 22 cows in state's Karimganj district, three detained

Assam Police on March 22 recovered 22 cows near the Indo-Bangladesh border in the Fakirabazar area of ​​Karimganj of the state, said an official.

The cows were recovered from the fields of Tukurpar village in the Fakirabazar area after Assam Police with  Border Security Force (BSF) launched an operation acting on a specific input.

The police also detained three alleged smugglers identified as Muktalal Namasudra, Abdul Rauf, and Abdul Salam.

'' A total of 22 cows were recovered today after BS conducted a raid in the Fakirabazar area and arrested three persons in connection with the matter. We are suspecting they have opened an illegal cattle market else cows were kept for trafficking,'' said the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) while speaking to the media over the matter.

It is suspected that the cows were kept for the purpose of smuggling to Bangladesh. 

Meanwhile, police are currently investigating the incident.
