In a major victory in the war against drugs, police in Assam's Karimganj district seized drugs worthRs 100 crore in the market.
In a joint operation of the Special Task Force and Karimganj Police led by DIG Parthasarathi Mahanta and SP Partha Protim Das, a huge quantity of drugs were seized today at Suprakandi under Nilam Bazar Police Station.
The total seizure included 5.1 kg heroin, 64,000 yaba tablets and four packets of foreign cigarettes.
Four persons were arrested by the police along with the drugs. They have been identified as Nur Ahmed hailing from Karimganj, and Zosangliani, Ramngheaka and Lalchamliana, all of whome hail from Thenzawl in Mizoram.
This is estimated to be the biggest seizure of drugs in Eastern India in terms of market value.
