Assam: Police seize large quantity of explosives in Goalpara district

Ahead of the upcoming Republic Day, police in Assam's Goalpara have scored a major success they recovered a huge cache of explosives from a vehicle. 

The team from the Dhupdhara police station recovered the huge quantity of explosives from the vehicle during regular checking on the National Highway No 17 today.

As per sources, the vehicle broke through the barricade and tried to escape from the police. The police gave a hot chase to the vehicle which ultimately forced two occupants to abandon the car and flee. 

Police recovered over 2000 sticks of gelatin, about 1800 detonators, eight bundles of blasting wires and one battery. 

Police in the meantime are conducting a manhunt to nab the two escaped occupants of the car.
