Assam: Racing boat drowns in Tipkai river in Dhubri, no casualties reported
In a shocking incident, a racing boat drowned in the middle of Tipkai river on October 17 evening, in Gauripur under Dhubri district. Luckily, the lives of the occupants of the boat were spared by a whisker.
The boat race took place in a remote area at Baghmara under Gauripur police station in Dhubri district, where more than 30 racing boats participated, in each boat 50-70 players were there to sail the racing boat during the competition.
In the middle of the Tipkai River, where the competition took place, one of the racing boats' lower panel broke down during the race and began to sink. As soon as a rescue boat came on the scene, some of the players attempted to swim to safety.
Meanwhile, a probe has been initiated into the incident. The players involved in the incident have been provided preliminary medical treatment.
