Assam: Rakibul Hussain slams BJP's alleged electoral bond tactics, says BJP is destroying democracy

Congress Lok Sabha candidate Rakibul Hussain on March 15 launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), condemning their handling of the electoral bond controversy. "The Supreme Court had to intervene in the electoral bonds matter," remarked Hussain, highlighting the judiciary's intervention as indicative of the severity of the situation.

He accused the BJP of manipulating the law and undermining the country's democratic fabric. Hussain stated the need to safeguard the rights of citizens and uphold the integrity of electoral processes against any attempts at suppression.

In a pointed critique, Hussain questioned the selective concern over party funding, stating, "How much Congress received, you are concerned about it. How much BJP received, you are not concerned about it."

Notably, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reportedly garnered a staggering Rs 6061 crore through electoral bonds, while the Congress received Rs 1422 crore.

Rakibul Hussain, the Congress candidate contesting from the Dhubri Lok Sabha constituency, has confidently echoed Assam's Chief Minister's prediction of Badruddin Ajmal's defeat in the upcoming elections. Hussain's remarks come in response to the Chief Minister's assertion that Ajmal would lose in Dhubri.
