Assam: School teacher participates in poll campaign, violates election code of conduct

In an alleged breach of the election code of conduct in Chirang, a teacher from the district has come under scrutiny for reportedly engaging in campaigning activities contrary to strict guidelines set by the Election Commission.

Teberson Brahma, an assistant teacher at Batabari Primary School No. 1, stands accused of participating in the election campaign for the ruling BJP UPPL while concurrently holding a government teaching position.

A complaint lodged with the Chirang district BPF party on Wednesday highlighted the purported actions of teacher Teberson Brahma, who is said to have disregarded the prescribed code of conduct by the Election Commission. Following the submission of the complaint, Paniram Brahma, representing BPF's council in Kajalgaon, urged for the immediate suspension of Teberson Brahma.

The matter has raised questions regarding the impartiality and adherence to electoral regulations, particularly concerning individuals holding public positions. The demand for disciplinary action against Teberson Brahma underscores the seriousness with which such infractions are viewed, especially in the context of maintaining fairness and transparency in the electoral process.

Observers are keenly awaiting the response from the district electoral officer, anticipating the nature of the action to be taken in light of the allegations against Teberson Brahma. The outcome of this case will likely serve as a litmus test for the enforcement of election codes of conduct and the accountability of public officials in Chirang and beyond.
