Assam: Tezpur salons under lens after recovery of contraceptives, incriminating objects

Allegations of unethical activities, including suspected involvement in sex work, have sparked tension in Tezpur, with alert residents of Ketekibari exposing illegal practices at certain unisex salons and beauty parlors.  

The issue came to light when vigilant locals and youth from Ketekibari, while cleaning up garbage irresponsibly dumped along the roadside, discovered objectionable materials such as contraceptives. The discovery raised suspicions and prompted immediate action by community members to address the issue.  

Following the revelations, organized raids were conducted on unisex salons in and around Ketekibari and Mission Chariali. During these raids, several individuals, including both men and women, were reportedly caught in compromising situations, further substantiating the allegations.  

Residents also confronted staff members from a specific salon suspected of disposing of incriminating materials in public spaces. The community expressed strong disapproval and demanded strict measures to curb such activities and restore the area's dignity.  

Local authorities are yet to respond with official statements or actions regarding the allegations, as residents continue to push for intervention to ensure these activities are permanently halted.
