Trinamool Congress (TMC) has intensified its campaign for Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) elections, while making allegations against rival parties. Dulu Ahmed, TMC’s in-charge for Lower Assam, spearheaded the campaign, while accusing both BJP and Congress of being in nexus.
While addressing at a gathering, Ahmed accused the Congress of political opportunism, alleging that many of its candidates win elections on a Congress ticket but later shift to the BJP. He also criticized Tonkeswar Rabha, claiming that his close associates have misappropriated RHAC funds, which he cited as the primary reason for the lack of development in the region.
For the RHAC elections, TMC has fielded four candidates in Kamrup district, which is part of the 36-member RHAC body, covering 779 villages in Kamrup and Goalpara districts. The elections have attracted multiple national parties, including the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and TMC, making it a high-stakes political contest.
Ahmed further alleged that TMC candidates were unfairly denied recognition, compelling them to contest as independent candidates. He affirmed that the party would challenge this matter legally in the High Court.
