Assam: Two killed in 4 days over man-elephant conflict in Boko

Man-elephant conflicts are escalating in the West Kamrup Forest Division area in Assam's Kamrup District. A recent incident resulted in the death of Anil Rabha, a 43-year-old man from Katahbari Village.

The attack occurred at Nam Santipur village on Wednesday morning around 11 am. Robin Rabha from Nam Santipur village reported the presence of the elephant at 4 am and informed the Forest Department at 5 am.

Despite the forest team's patrolling, the elephant attacked the villagers, leading to Anil Rabha's death. The incident site is approximately 10 kilometers from the West Kamrup Forest Division office. In a separate incident, Kamaleswar Boro was killed by an elephant at Borkhal village last Sunday night.

The villagers from Nam Santipur and Borkhal suspect the same elephant was involved in both attacks. The local population is now living in fear of this lone elephant and has urged the Forest Department to take action.

In related news, two elephant calves have died in the last three months in the Hahim area of the West Kamrup Forest Division along the Assam-Meghalaya border.
