In a late-night operation aimed at cracking down on the illegal drug trade, Dadra police in Kamrup made a significant breakthrough by intercepting a vehicle transporting a large quantity of banned substances.
The raid, conducted in the early hours, resulted in the seizure of a four-wheeler and 720 bottles of illicit cough syrup, a substance often misused as a recreational drug.
The vehicle, bearing registration number AS01DZ6937, was traveling from Guwahati toward Hajo when it encountered a police checkpoint. Upon spotting the law enforcement personnel, the driver attempted to flee the scene.
However, quick action by the Dadra police led to a high-speed chase, culminating in the vehicle being apprehended at Borka under Kamrup district.
Following the successful interception, the police detained Azar Ali, also known as Dudu, a resident of Hajo’s Adhiapara area, who was identified as the individual behind the smuggling attempt. Further investigation is underway as authorities work to trace the origins and intended destination of the seized contraband.
