Assam: Voters return home without casting votes due to delayed start in Rangia

Voters at the Madaikata polling booth near Rangia have expressed strong resentment over discrepancies that led to a delayed start of the voting process, causing some to leave without casting their votes.

The dissatisfaction stems from the failure to commence voting until 8 am in the A section of Madaikata Girls' ME Madrasa, located within the Darrang Udalguri Lok Sabha constituency under the Goreshwar assembly constituency.

The delay in initiating voting procedures has left voters frustrated, with some voicing their displeasure at being unable to exercise their democratic right on time.

As a result, a section of voters opted to return home without participating in the electoral process due to the prolonged wait.

The incident underscores the importance of ensuring smooth and timely operations at polling booths to facilitate voter participation.

The Election Commission and local authorities are urged to address such discrepancies promptly to uphold the integrity and fairness of the electoral process.
