Assam's Kokrajhar rallies to end human trafficking and witch hunting

Marking the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the District Administration of Kokrajhar, in association with the District Social Welfare Office, conducted a district-level awareness campaign on combating human trafficking and ending witch-hunting. 

The event was held at the Conference Hall of the BTC Secretariat under the SANKALP initiative of DHEW, Mission Shakti, and the Women & Child Development Department, Assam.

The campaign focused on sensitising stakeholders to the growing concerns surrounding human trafficking and witch-hunting.

Extensive discussions highlighted the need for stronger awareness, shared community responsibility, and coordinated departmental responses to tackle these deep-rooted issues.

Speakers underscored that eradicating such social evils requires united efforts across government departments, legal bodies, and civil society.

Pami Brahma, Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, BTC, graced the event along with representatives from the District Legal Service Authority, District Social Welfare Office, District Child Protection Office, and Child Development Project Officers.

Their presence reinforced the campaign’s emphasis on a multi-stakeholder approach to ensure safety, justice, and dignity for vulnerable individuals in society.
