BJP dominates in Morigaon Panchayat election results: Strong wins across multiple seats

The much-anticipated results of the Morigaon District and Regional Panchayat elections have been declared, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) securing decisive victories across numerous seats. 

The party’s candidates have shown their strength, winning a significant number of key positions across the district.

In the District Council elections, BJP candidates triumphed in four seats:

Binita Baishnav Deka secured a win in the Bhurbandha District Council seat.

Suren Das emerged victorious in the Dandua District Council seat.

Prashant Hazarika won uncontested in the Kushtali Nij Gerua District Council seat.

Archana Patar claimed victory in the Charaiwahi Chabukhora District Council seat, with a substantial vote margin.

The BJP also made notable gains in the Regional Panchayat elections, sweeping a large number of village panchayat seats in the Kapili and Bhurbandha regions.

In the Kapili Regional Panchayat, BJP nominees like Gopeshwar Bordoloi in Chabukhora Village Panchayat and Chittaranjan Amchi in Charaiwahi Village Panchayat won uncontested. Several other BJP candidates, including Anurag Das in Borchila Village Panchayat and Lipika Bordoloi in Gopalghat Village Panchayat, secured significant victories.

The Bhurbandha Regional Panchayat saw continued BJP dominance with wins from candidates like Geeta Bordoloi in Dighalbori Village Panchayat, Priyanka Mondal in Banmuri Boralimari Village Panchayat, and Abhijit Kumar Bharali in Laubhurunga Village Panchayat, with several others winning uncontested.

Meanwhile, Congress and Independent candidates also made their mark, with Shabina Yachmin securing a victory for Congress in Mikirgaon Village Panchayat and Independent candidates like Anjana Deka Kakoti in Borongabari Village Panchayat also emerging victorious.

Overall, the elections have showcased the BJP’s stronghold in the region, marking a successful run for the party’s candidates in the face of rising political competition. With several uncontested wins and a series of clear victories, the BJP has cemented its position in Morigaon’s panchayat politics as the region prepares for future political challenges.

As the newly elected members begin their tenure, the focus now shifts to governance and fulfilling the promises made during the campaign.
