BJP remains the number one choice in BTC: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the people of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTC) are leaning towards voting for a national party in the upcoming elections, seeking better coordination between Kokrajhar, Dispur, and Delhi.

Addressing the media, CM Sarma said, “BJP remains the number one choice in BTC, except for areas around Parbatjhora and Srirampur. I have visited all constituencies, and it is clear that the people want a national party this time. They believe this will ensure effective cooperation between Delhi, Dispur, and Kokrajhar. Regional parties have had their chance many times. Now, the people of BTC want a change, and they want the BJP.”

The Chief Minister’s remarks highlight the BJP’s focus on consolidating support in the BTC by emphasising governance coordination between the central and state governments, aiming to strengthen development initiatives in the region.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prospects ahead of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections, pointing to the party’s extensive campaign outreach across the region.

"BJP has conducted rallies in a total of 36 Council areas so far. BJP has decided which seats it will contest. The party will form a policy, and after the date of voting is announced, it will announce candidates for the seats where it will win... BJP is in a good position in Bodoland," Sarma said while addressing the media in Kokrajhar.

Responding to questions about the future of the Village Council Development Committee (VCDC), the Chief Minister added, "Whether VCDC should be scrapped or not will be decided only by the government that forms here. BJP is not the enemy of anyone."
