Daylight robbery in Assam: Thieves flee with Rs 2.58 lakh in Dhubri, incident caught on CCTV

In a brazen daylight robbery, a gang of thieves made away with Rs 2,58,000 in front of the AXIS Bank branch in Dhubri.

The incident, which occurred on Monday afternoon, was captured on CCTV cameras, highlighting the growing concern over thefts in the area.

The victim, Yaqub Ali, had just withdrawn the money from the bank and was about to leave when the crime took place. After placing the bag of cash on his bike, Yaqub was approached by an unknown man who claimed that some money had fallen from his pocket. As Yaqub bent down to check, another thief seized the opportunity, grabbed the bag, and fled with it. The gang of thieves, suspected to be number three, swiftly disappeared from the scene.

This is not the first such incident in Dhubri. A few days earlier, a similar robbery took place, leading to widespread concern among the public. Police suspect the involvement of an organized gang possibly hailing from outside the state. The gang appears to be targeting residents, particularly near banks, taking advantage of unsuspecting victims.

Investigations are underway, and police are analyzing the CCTV footage to identify the culprits. The rising frequency of such incidents has left residents on edge, calling for stronger security measures around banks and busy areas to prevent further crimes.
