Guwahati VIP road hit-and-run accident claims life of biker

A tragic hit-and-run accident on Guwahati’s VIP road on Tuesday (March 27) night claimed the life of a biker.

The deceased has been identified as Jitu Kalita, a resident of Tangla in Assam’s Udalguri district.

As per the information received, Kalita was traveling from the Six Mile area when a fast-moving truck reportedly hit him, causing him to be thrown several meters away from the collision spot.

He died instantly. The truck driver fled the scene post the accident. The local police were informed and a search operation is underway.

In a similar incident recently, a woman was killed in a fatal hit-and-run accident on the National Highway 37 near Lalunggaon, close to Lokhra.

She was hit by a passing vehicle while crossing the road and succumbed to her injuries on the spot.
