Himanta Biswa Sarma: Pakistan sent terrorists to India during Congress rule

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 4 said that Pakistan sent terrorists into India during the rule of the Congress party.

Sarma reminisced about past security challenges and credited the current Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for ushering in an era of relative peace in the country.

Sarma said, "You may remember how Pakistan used to send terrorists to our country during the tenure of UPA. Sometimes in Mumbai and sometimes in Hyderabad. When the Modi government hit the house in Pakistan, they were scared."

Sarma highlighted the transformation he believes the nation has undergone since Modi assumed office in 2014. "Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country in 2014, and our country moved towards peace," he stated. "In the last 10 years, not a single bomb blast has taken place in Bombay, not a single bomb blast has taken place in Hyderabad and in Assam also, whether it is terrorist movement or militant movement, it is slowly disappearing."

"Whenever Pakistan used to send terrorists to India, the Congress government was afraid to go to Pakistan and teach them a lesson," Sarma said.

In contrast, Sarma lauded Modi's response to cross-border terrorism, particularly citing the air strikes conducted within Pakistan's territory. "But when Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country and Pakistan started sending terrorists to India, Modi went inside Pakistan and bombed it with the air force," he said. "And since then, Pakistan has not sent any terrorists to India. They are afraid of India."
