A brutal and shocking murder took place in the waterlogged village of Ramprasadpur in Cachar district, where a man beheaded his wife during a domestic dispute.
The victim has been identified as Meena Kol, and the accused, her husband Ratan Kol, has been arrested by police. According to preliminary information, the couple got into a heated argument over a minor issue, which quickly escalated.
In a fit of rage, Ratan Kol attacked his wife with a machete (dao) repeatedly and eventually severed her head, killing her on the spot. After committing the gruesome act, the accused was found standing beside the blood-soaked body, still holding the weapon.

Frightened neighbours, too shocked to intervene, immediately alerted the police. Authorities rushed to the scene, arrested the accused, and sent the victim’s body to Silchar Medical College for post-mortem examination.
The horrific nature of the crime has sent shockwaves through the local community, and a magistrate, along with the victim’s relatives, also visited the site.
Police have launched a full investigation into the murder.
