Human trafficking racket busted at Tinsukia railway station; 26 girls rescued

In a major breakthrough, railway authorities busted a human trafficking racket at Tinsukia Railway Station and successfully rescued 26 minor and young women who were being trafficked to Tamil Nadu using forged documents.

The operation was jointly conducted by the Railway Police Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRPF), who intercepted the victims during a routine inspection at the Tinsukia railway junction. The traffickers had allegedly prepared fake identity documents and were sending the girls to Tamil Nadu without the knowledge of their families.

Authorities also detained five individuals—both men and women—suspected of being involved in the racket. Shocking revelations have emerged that the traffickers misled families by claiming that the girls would be provided with tailoring training at a centre in Borgaon before being sent to work in garment factories.

The operation was carried out based on a tip-off received by the Dibrugarh Railway Security Force, which then alerted their Tinsukia counterparts for immediate action.

One of the accused, Bidyut Dutta, stated that the girls were being taken to work in a textile factory in Tamil Nadu, but investigations are ongoing to verify the claims and uncover the full extent of the trafficking network.
