Japorigog 'spray gang' loot unmasked: Inside job revealed, gold chain recovered

In a major breakthrough in the so-called "Spray Gang" loot incident in Japorigog, Guwahati, Dispur Police have uncovered that the robbery was an inside job.

The dramatic tale initially presented as a looting after a spray attack has now unraveled, with investigators recovering the stolen gold chain and identifying the key conspirators.

The female caretaker involved in the case, Namita Nath, who had earlier claimed to be the victim of a mysterious robbery after being sprayed with a chemical, has now confessed to staging the incident. Following her confession, Dispur Police launched a raid at a jewellery shop in Beltola where the gold chain had been sold. The chain was successfully recovered during the operation.

Namita, who was previously sent to jail after her claims, has been brought back into police custody for further interrogation. Her statements confirmed police suspicions that the incident lacked evidence of any outsider involvement.

Sources within the police department said the investigation took a new turn after inconsistencies emerged in Namita’s original statement. CCTV footage and forensic checks failed to support the claim of forced entry or the presence of unknown persons at the premises during the alleged robbery.

Dispur Police officials stated that the entire act was orchestrated to mislead investigators and cover up the theft. “There was no evidence of any spray attack or an outsider entering the premises. The truth came to light through rigorous investigation and interrogation,” an officer involved in the probe stated.

The case is now being treated as a fabricated robbery, and further legal action will be taken against those involved in misleading the authorities and tampering with evidence.
