Left’s true face exposed: Assam CM condemns attack on journalists at Jadavpur University

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has strongly condemned the violent attack on journalists at Jadavpur University, calling it an "atrocity" committed by left-ideological elements.

Reacting to the shocking incident, Sarma stated, "The attack on a TV journalist at Jadavpur University is nothing but atrocities of left-ideological people. It is now proved that the left always advocates violence... they want to do politics over violence. I condemn the incident, and this has exposed the left wing."

The remarks from the Assam CM come after three journalists—Hridita, Pinki, and Bhaskar—were allegedly assaulted at Jadavpur University on Thursday, March 13.

Reports indicate that the journalists were covering an event on the university premises when they were physically attacked by individuals allegedly affiliated with leftist groups masquerading as students and staff members.

In a particularly egregious incident, journalist Pinki was not only assaulted but was also forcibly detained inside the office of the university registrar. She was allegedly coerced into deleting crucial footage.

Meanwhile, journalist Hridita was chased off the campus while conducting a live broadcast, facing verbal abuse and physical intimidation.

Despite this, she bravely returned to confront her attackers. Reporter Bhaskar was also subjected to violence and was reportedly locked inside the registrar’s office. Visual evidence shows leftist goons pushing and shoving him, hurling abuses, and labelling the journalists as ‘pimps’ (Dalal).

The incident has sparked outrage across media circles, with many calling for strict action against those responsible. The attack has further reignited debates over the rising instances of campus violence and the alleged role of politically motivated groups in suppressing free press.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s remarks have added significant political weight to the issue, as he pointedly accused leftist elements of fostering a culture of violence.

The shocking assault on journalists at Jadavpur University has raised serious concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation on campuses.
