Manipur slowly limping back to normalcy, Cachar and Manipur police look forward to joint border patrolling

With situation slowly limping back to normalcy in Manipur, the Cachar district administration is in discussion with its Manipur counterpart over sending back displaced people sheltering in Assam due to the ethnic clashes that ensued in the state since May 3.

Many people from different communities who sneaked into Assam while escaping from the violent clashes that broke out in Manipur are taking shelter at different shelter camps at Lakhipur constituency of Cachar district of Assam.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma had directed all state machineries to ensure safety and security to the displaced people , which was religiously taken care by Cachar district administration and Police forces.
Cachar police also kept keen eye on any movement of anti social elements to prevent any kind of untoward incidents in Assam land , though procedures of sending back the inmates from these camps were started but many are still in fear to move and staying here .  

On Tuesday, Cachar SP Numal Mahatta along with other officers of Cachar DEF visited the displaced people from Manipur who took shelter in Southern Assam's Cachar districts Shelter Camps under Jirighat and Lakhipur  Police Station  where people belonging to various ethnic groups sneaked into Assam state from neighbouring districts of Jiribam, Manipur.

Cachar police team led by SP Numal Mahatta first went to Jiribam district of Manipur the bordering district with Assam and met his  counterpart, Pradeep Singh, IPS, Supdt of Police, Jiribam Dist, Manipur, and exchanged token of harmony and had a discussion over the prevailing scenario across Assam- Manipur border and issues relating to return of the inmates of the shelter camps back to their home and planned for joint patrolling along border side . 

On the same ground Cachar SP Numal Mahatta also mentioned that they had a long discussion with his counterpart at Jiribam in their office and planned for joint patrolling of police from both Assam and Manipur side i.e of Cachar and Jiribam district police team in the bordering area both land and water ways.
