Morigaon Police have successfully recovered Rs 93 lakh that was fraudulently siphoned off by cybercriminals from Uttar Pradesh.
The victim, Piyush Kanti Dey, a businessman from Morigaon, had reportedly lost over Rs 96 lakh to the fraudsters.
The incident came to light on May 5 this year when a case was registered at Jagiroad Police Station.
Acting on the FIR, Morigaon Police launched a thorough investigation led by the district's Crime Branch and under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Samiran Baishya.

After nearly three months of relentless efforts, the team managed to trace and recover ₹93 lakh from the clutches of the cyber fraudsters. The stolen money was returned to Piyush Kanti Dey, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Morigaon Police for their prompt and effective action.
According to the case details, the cybercriminals posed as Dey himself and tricked his accountant into transferring over Rs 96 lakh from the company account. Dey is known to be the Managing Director of Progressive Fertilisers Private Limited, located in Jagiroad.
The police have confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing to uncover the full extent of the cybercrime network involved in the case.
