PM Modi to arrive in Guwahati tonight; NDA CMs, Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh to attend Assam oath ceremony

Himanta Biswa Sarma, on May 11, reviewed preparations at the Veterinary College ground in Khanapara ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new BJP-led NDA government in Assam scheduled for May 12.

Speaking to reporters during his visit to the venue, Sarma said Narendra Modi would arrive in Guwahati on Sunday night to attend the oath-taking ceremony as the chief guest.

“The Prime Minister will arrive in Guwahati tonight. At 11 am tomorrow, the new government of Assam will take oath,” Sarma said.

He added that several top NDA leaders, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, BJP president Nitin Nabin and Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states would attend the ceremony.

Sarma said thousands of party workers, including booth-level BJP karyakartas, are also expected to participate in the event.

The Chief Minister-designate further stated that the first Cabinet meeting would be held immediately after the oath-taking ceremony and that implementation of the BJP’s election manifesto would remain the government’s primary focus.

Security arrangements and stage preparations at the Khanapara venue have been intensified ahead of the high-profile ceremony, which is expected to witness the presence of senior political leaders, ministers and supporters from across the Northeast and the country.
