Police bust alleged prostitution racket at Goalpara hotel; Five detained

In a late-night operation, police carried out a raid at Hotel Mayur, located in the heart of Goalpara town, uncovering an alleged prostitution racket that had reportedly been operating for a long time.

During the raid conducted by the Sadar police, five individuals, including young men and women, were apprehended from the premises.

In a sensational development, sources have alleged that the illegal activities at the hotel were being run under the supervision of a BJP leader identified as Atikur Rahman.

It is further reported that the hotel had previously come under police scrutiny for similar activities, but the operation allegedly resumed thereafter.

The identities of the detained individuals have not been disclosed so far. All five have been taken into custody for further interrogation.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage in Goalpara, particularly due to allegations of political patronage behind the illegal racket. Police have initiated further investigation into the matter.
