Protests erupt in Silchar over Bangladesh incident; BJP Yuva Morcha burns effigy
Tension prevailed in Silchar on December 20 as activists of the BJP Yuva Morcha from Assam’s Cachar district staged a protest over an alleged incident involving atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh.
The protesters gathered at a major city intersection, where they burned an effigy symbolising the accused and raised slogans condemning violence against the Hindu community.
During the demonstration, the BJP Yuva Morcha workers demanded that those responsible for the alleged crimes in Bangladesh be tried in an international court and awarded capital punishment.
The protesters asserted that India would not tolerate atrocities against Hindus under any circumstances and warned that sustained protests would follow if corrective action was not taken.

The demonstrators also expressed hope that the Prime Minister of India and the Chief Minister of Assam would intervene decisively and take a firm stand on the issue through diplomatic and other appropriate measures.
Meanwhile, security has been significantly tightened along the India–Bangladesh border in the Barak Valley region. Additional forces have been deployed to prevent any spillover impact of the situation.
According to sources in the Border Security Force (BSF), the agency is maintaining strict vigilance along the border to ensure that Bangladeshi extremists or any jihadi elements do not attempt to create unrest or infiltrate Indian territory. The BSF has intensified surveillance and patrols as part of precautionary measures.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to maintain law and order in the region.
