Revision of electoral rolls in Assam to be announced separately: Election Commissioner
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, on October 27, said that the revision of electoral rolls in Assam will be announced separately.
He informed that Phase 2 of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will be conducted in 12 States and Union Territories, including West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. The 12 States and UTs where the Special Intensive Revision will begin from tomorrow are Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa, Puducherry, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Lakshadweep.
Explaining the reason for Assam’s exclusion from this phase, Kumar said, "Under India's Citizenship Act, there are separate provisions for Assam. Under the supervision of the Supreme Court, the checking of citizenship is about to be completed. The 24th SIR order was for the entire country. Under such circumstances, this would not have been applicable to Assam. So, separate orders for revision will be issued for Assam."

“The voter list of all those states where SIR will be carried out will be frozen at 12 am tonight,” the CEC added. “All voters on that list will be given Unique Enumeration Forms by the Booth Level Officers (BLOs). These forms will contain all necessary details from the current voter list.”
Kumar further explained that once BLOs begin distributing the forms to existing electors, individuals can verify if their names appeared on the 2003 voter list. If they or their parents were listed, no additional documents will be required.
The CEC also informed that voter lists from the SIR period between 2002 and 2004 will be accessible for public viewing on http://voters.eci.gov.in
, allowing citizens to cross-check and match their details online.
