Ripun Bora demands SIT to summon Assam BJP MLA over Gaurav Gogoi-Pakistan claim

Amid an ongoing SIT investigation, Assam Congress leader and former MP Ripun Bora has demanded that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) summon BJP MLA Diganta Kalita in connection with controversial claims about Gaurav Gogoi’s alleged visit to Pakistan.

Speaking to the media after a marathon questioning session by the SIT, Bora said, “They can call me 100 times, I will still come. We in the Congress Party respect the law.” He added that the SIT, led by Dr. Rosie Kalita, tried to puzzle him during the interrogation, asking detailed questions about the basis of his statements refuting allegations made by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Bora claimed that he firmly denied all allegations levelled against Gaurav Gogoi and stood by his statements made during earlier press conferences. He revealed that SIT asked him why he had challenged the CM’s allegations publicly and on what basis.

In a surprising turn, Bora told SIT officials that if they truly want to investigate the matter, they should also question BJP MLA Diganta Kalita.

According to Bora, Kalita had made a detailed Facebook post outlining a 15-day itinerary of Gaurav Gogoi’s alleged movements—including a flight to Karachi, hotel stay, dinner with Pakistani nationals, and more.

“How could Diganta Kalita provide such specific details unless he accompanied Gaurav Gogoi to Pakistan?” Bora asked. He speculated that since the alleged timeline dates back to 2013, when Kalita was still in Congress and close to Gogoi, it’s possible he had firsthand knowledge.

“I categorically requested the SIT to summon Diganta Kalita. If he wasn’t with Gogoi, how could he write such a detailed post?” Bora said.

When asked about CM Sarma’s recent claim that Bora has more information about Gogoi’s alleged Pakistan visit, Bora dismissed it, saying not all statements made by the Chief Minister are true.
“Whatever SIT asked, I responded clearly and defended every point I made earlier. Gaurav Gogoi has never gone to Pakistan illegally,” he stated.

The political heat over the Pakistan allegation continues to rise, and Bora’s demand to question a sitting BJP MLA adds a new twist to the unfolding narrative.
