Scores of migratory birds die of suspected poisoning in Kaziranga National Park

The paddy fields near Kaziranga National Park (Biswanath Wildlife Division) are a feeding ground to hundreds of Bar Headed Goose, Ruddy Shellducks, and Graylag geese. But miscreants have killed many of them through poisoning, as claimed by a nearby nature lover, Pranay Mahanta.

The recent incidents of poisoning of migratory birds near Kaziranga National Park, particularly Bar Headed Geese, Ruddy Shell Ducks, and Graylag Geese, are alarming and concerning for both the local ecosystem and wildlife conservation efforts. These birds play crucial roles in the ecosystem, and their presence also adds to the biodiversity of the region.

Bar-headed geese, in particular, are known for their remarkable feats of endurance and adaptability, as they migrate over the Himalayas, navigating through extreme weather conditions and high altitudes.
