Activist and Bir Lachit Sena leader Shrinkhal Chaliha has clarified that he has not resigned from any position but has taken a temporary break due to health reasons.
“I have not been relieved of my responsibilities. I’ve only taken a break. I am unwell, and on my doctor's advice, I sought a two-month medical leave,” Chaliha said.
He explained that a letter was submitted to a journalist only to excuse himself from participating in a talk show, citing his inability to attend due to his condition. “Unfortunately, that letter was made public,” he added.

Reaffirming the unity within Bir Lachit Sena, Chaliha said, “Shrinkhal Chaliha, Rontu Paniphukan — all of us together form the Bir Lachit Sena. No ‘love letter’ can bring division among us.”
He concluded by saying that while he may be taking a temporary break, he will not hesitate to step forward again if the situation demands. “If the nation needs me, I will not hold back — I will march ahead,” Chaliha declared.
