Tension accelerates in Jorhat over alleged Naga aggression on Assam soil
Tension prevailed along the Assam-Nagaland border following reports of Naga miscreants encroaching upon Assam land.
Locals reported of rampant encroachment by the Naga miscreants at Dissoi valley forest area along the Assam-Nagaland border in Mariani. Reports suggest that the alleged Naga miscreants crossed the Tiruhills forest area and destroyed large areas of the forest by chopping down trees.
This latest incident of alleged land encroachment by Nagas right after the formation of the new government in Nagaland, has caused tension among the residents near the Assam-Nagaland border.
Naga miscreants have reportedly encroached upon many areas on Assam soil, cutting down valuable trees on Assam's revenue land adjacent to section 18 of the Naginajan tea estate of the Assam Tea Corporation in Mariani.
While Naga miscreants have been causing havoc on the land of Assam, there is anger among the villagers on Assam side over the pathetic role of the Administration of Assam of not taking the issue seriously.
