Train services on the Lumding–Badarpur hill section have been suspended indefinitely following massive landslides between Dihakho and Mupa stations at km 51/1–2.
The situation has turned critical, prompting Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) authorities to halt operations on the route from Wednesday onwards.
The first disruption occurred on July 3, when boulders and mud from a landslide blocked the tracks between Dihakho and Mupa, causing a temporary suspension of services.
Though NFR swiftly restored operations within a day, continuous heavy rainfall in the Dima Hasao district has led to recurring landslides, making regular train movement impossible.

The landslide zone has now become dangerously unstable, forcing authorities to take the step of suspending train services indefinitely. This has once again severed rail connectivity between Barak Valley's three districts, Dima Hasao, and the neighbouring states of Tripura, Manipur, and Mizoram with the rest of India.
NFR officials said that round-the-clock restoration work is ongoing under war footing, but there is no certainty yet on when normal train services will resume along this crucial route.
It may be recalled that train services were first disrupted on June 23 due to a landslide between New Haflong and Jatinga Lampur stations at km 108/7–8. Services were restored on June 30, only to be affected again by the July 3 landslide.
With the current situation worsening, train movement on the Lumding–Badarpur hill line now stands completely halted until further notice.
